The Days Following Orlando
Over the past week there has been a deep dark cloud hanging over all of us, it’s the cloud of sadness and fear. Because of the act of one, thousands if not millions of us have been affected by the fact that one chose and now there is overwhelming heartache and disbelief. Today I don’t want to give the darkness more energy than it deserves so I am writing more about the light that is in all of us.
Over the past day’s I have seen, experienced and been part of a community that is supportive understanding loving and kind. I have watched as the quilt of our lives has started to unravel and then seen it start to get put back together through love and kindness. We are amazing creatures us humans, we consist of both light and shadow. Why it is that a small number among of us are consumed with the shadow is beyond me. Is it the lack of connection that takes them there? I don’t know, here is what I do know….
Light and Shadow
We get to choose which we reside in and when we make that choice those around us will be touch and influenced by that choice. Choose wisely!
Quilt or Chain
We are either a quilt or a chain. The quilt can wrap us up in warmth bringing us comfort whereas the chain keeps us locked and bound, yet they both have the same thing in common…CONNECTIVITY. We all, no matter where we live, what we do, who we love, how we earn a living, or what we believe WE ARE ALL CONNECTED and in that connection impact on us is made. Choose wisely!
So with this knowledge, I encourage us all to stay in the light, wrap each other up in our quilt of love. Talk to each other, listen attentively and remember we all deal with life events differently. Try your best not to judge but to come to each other in compassion and a desire for understanding. We can’t undo what has been done, yesterday is gone. But we, unlike those no longer with us, can move forward in a way that honors one another, lifts us up and teaches us to see beyond the surface. Going deeper by investing the most valuable commodity we all have to give….our time. Invest in the stranger beside you in line, open a door for a stranger, offer a smile but most of all stay in the light!
